Children can be terrifying - wandering through the world at full speed powered by curiosity, putting everything in their mouths, climbing all over the place with reckless abandon, or deciding to play hide and seek in a department store. Terrifying times but since parents never stop worrying anyways, you measure the risks vs the fun and start exploring the world together and realize this is what life is all about.
We get asked a lot about whether or not it is safe to travel to Panama with children. I remember the first time a parent asked me that and my first thought was, why not? There are kids everywhere here in Panama and they seem to be having a great time. Did you know Panama is the SAFEST country in Central America? Traveling internationally with children is stressful and since it's not cool to put a leash on kids anymore, it takes a lot of planning and effort to ensure they are not only safe but having fun and learning too.
Having hosted hundreds of families here in the past 6 years, this is exactly the kind of place kids love and thrive in - nature, water, surf, waterfalls, being outside all day, monkeys, frogs, snakes & bugs, learning, cultural experiences, and being warm! Those kids are still going to do all the things kids do so remember the first aid kit and read our travel page to prepare yourselves just like you do wherever you go with kids. However, know that we have your back with our experienced guides and team to guide their wildness, introduce them to this magical place, and teach them about the nature that surrounds them too.
We built our place for adventurous families and we call it an eco resort which, when people hear the word resort, they think more of somewhere like Epcot Center, Sandals, Marriott, etc. but we couldn't be more different. Instead, imagine a thick canopy of trees inhabited by monkeys, birds and iguanas as your source of entertainment. Or walk along the lush natural gardens full of butterflies, hummingbirds, and bright flowers that command your attention. Spend a hot afternoon with a local artisan weaving your own sandals or share the table in a family home sharing a delicious traditional meal.
Still thinking of how much kids love pools? Try miles of beach to run and play, build sand castles, and chase crabs, with an estuary for swimming and gentle waves to boogie board or learn to surf. How fun and important is it to for kids to make new friends when they travel from other countries and cultures to play together and share their worlds? Those are the moments that create a lifetime of memories.
