Such a peaceful moment of the day - the sunset. Panama is actually the only country on the planet where you can see the sun rise on the Pacific and set on the Atlantic from its highest point (11,411ft / 3,478m) on Volcán Barú. Of course, you would need perfect weather up there in the cloud forest but great things come to those who wait!
We are thankful to be located on the sunset coast where you can catch these beautiful sunsets each day. Are you sunset obsessed - an opacarophile? If so, we GOT you. Because of our close proximity to the equator, every day the sun rises at about 6:30 am and sets at 6:30 pm. This also means that our temperatures are relatively consistent throughout the year as well, warm and hot.
Since moving here from Colorado, we can honestly say that we do not miss the 4 seasons, and as you all know Ryan, definitely not the snowy life at 10,000 ft. Here, we have two seasons - Summer and Winter. Right now it's Summer; dry and hot and why people travel here for a break from the cold. Then, we have winter, when its green and lush with cool rains (my favorite time of year).
In Panama, especially the interior where we are, people start and end their days with the sun. After all, in the interior many people still live without power or at least without reliable power. Because the sunlight hours don't change, the vibe is definitely more relaxed as people get up and going early and then get a lot of rest at night. My kind of lifestyle for sure. I love to sleep.
So, if you are currently channeling your inner opacarophile and find yourself in need of a beautiful warm sunset with a bottle of good wine, we have just the spot. Wherever you may be right now, we hope your day is filled with all great things, ends with a relaxing sunset, and we would love to hear from you.
Go ahead, say heyyy let us know how your corner of the world is treating you.
