This is one amazing part of our endlessly fascinating bodies; the sense of smell. You can probably think of an overpowering cologne or perfume that immediately reminds you of a crush you had in high school. Or maybe a steaming, sizzling pan of garlic and spices that drew you in to a vendors cart while walking through a market in India for a mouth watering meal that immediately transports you back 20 years ago.
Here's a good one: what about that last subway ride you had in NYC? Maybe it was a dead person (this literally happened to us), a fresh pile of vomit you're trying your best not to step in, or that unmistakable smell of the drunk guy huddled in the corner soaked in urine?
Sorry for those nasty "scentuals" but those memories come back immediately right?
Hmmm all that COVID subway cleaning didn't seem to last too long or in reality those smells are so powerful and run so deep, they will never go away.
I don't know about you buy I wish my academic recall worked as well as my scent memory!
