#1 Morrillo Panama
I'm guessing it wasn't super suspenseful for you to figure out where was #1 on our list of the greatest places to visit in Panama but here she is in all her natural stupendousness! There are so many reasons that we chose this area of Panama but essentially, we were in search of a remote, uncrowded, and beautiful place in nature where families could safely learn to surf, explore, and discover the culture of Panama.
It's true when you hear this is the most consistent place to surf in Panama. If you have the skills, you can pretty much surf every day in this area. There are about 5 different beaches within a 30 min. drive with several options to surf depending on the swells etc. So, while there is surfing for all abilities, our favorite spot is right out front, what we call "Beginner Beach" and just a 20 minute walk down the beach is Morrillo Proper for advanced to expert surfers.
So yeah, surfing is great but the surrounding nature, especially the trees, and change in scenery is truly what makes this place so magical. With the rolling hills, rugged islands, and the Cerro Hoya National Park a short drive away, the exploration potential is endless.
Nature is what makes this place magical but the stars of the show and the great entertainers are obvious. From the curious and LOUD critically endangered Azuero Howler Monkeys, the hundreds of species of birds and butterflies, Tila, Remo, and well you get my point...
Oh the baby turtles! We are fortunate and thankful to have a Sea Turtle Conservation Center close by that we are able to share with our guests and support their conservation efforts of these beautiful endangered species.
We all know travel is the greatest way to bring awareness of other cultures and ultimately create peaceful relations on this beautiful planet. Our surrounding community still lives the way they have for centuries and is an endless source of fascination, and appreciation. They take friendliness to another level.
Nothing great can be accomplished without the support of family. I included this recent photo of our family because they were here to visit (Ryan, Tila, and I are second row from the top).
The freedom of vaccinated travel, lots, and lots, and lots of negative COVID tests = time together with family.
Here, it's an amazing place to be together where everything is open air, outside, with excellent breezes and air movement. It was so great to be together again and hug my family, especially my Mom.
If you are getting ready to travel again and looking for an amazing country to visit, Panama needs to be on your list. Hit us up with any questions you may have. We are here for you when you're ready!
