The best part of this magical spot in the world is that it's really hard to see from above, down the beach, or even from the private terrace of your room. Location. Location. Location. Right? It's all about the trees. Maybe a bit off the beaten path but the feeling of seclusion when nestled into the jungle hillside without any other buildings in site inspires so many of our guests to refer to us as a "hidden gem" - a place not many people know about. We're not talking the world, many Panamanians have yet to venture to this area of their beautiful country.
"They have created a hidden paradise that balances the jungle while sitting right on the most stunning beach!" Claire's 5 bubble Trip Advisor review
The real stars of the show here are the trees. That magical and indescribable feeling you get here is because of the trees. You might argue it's Ryan's tasty col-col beers, and Tila (our cat) might argue it's her, or the waves out front, but in reality its all of the above, especially the trees and the life they provide here. These sentient beings of nature provide for us humans in so many ways that we cannot live without them but do we really appreciate them they way they deserve? As we learned a few weeks, there are over 3,000 species of trees here all of which play their critical roles. That towering Golden Guayacan over the hotel is said to be a beacon of the change of seasons, as well as a medicinal source and most certainly a perch for the toucans. Its a slow growing hardwood tree that turns into a tower of flowers sometimes twice a year. A slow growing long lasting tree, she will outlast us and those that follow so long as she is allowed to live a healthy life. Walking through the jungle here reveals trees that have been here for centuries and create the life giving canopy that provides us all with life. Every limb, every leaf, every root, plays its part and never ceases to create a sense of appreciation and wonder. I am sure you can think of a few trees that have inspired your world. Spread the love, hug a tree, save a tree, plant a tree, whatever it takes. Your Friends in Morrillo, Cari and Ryan Mackey Owners and Hosts Morrillo Beach Eco Resort
